Rife Technology: Rife with potential? Or Rife with controversy? B Y L I S A S E E L A N D T The basis of electro-therapy lies in the belief that disease can be destroyed through application of electromagnetic fields which when applied will render the patient whole without harming healthy tissue. In previous articles in PLANETLightworker we have referenced vibrational medicine and electro-magnetic therapy as significant healing modalities to emerge in this modern age of personal healing. Another revival that is currently underway is based upon the life work of the brilliant scientist, Royal Raymond Rife. In the 1930s Rife was alleged to have discovered "the cure for all diseases". It should be noted that any discovery contradictory to mainstream orthodox authority is often regarded with ridicule. (Remember Pasteur?) In this new age of awareness of homeopathic and naturopathic healing methods, Rife therapy is being re-evaluated. Many homeopathic practitioners apply Rife therapy openly in their practice and mainstream medical doctors are researching the benefits of Rife therapy. In this issue we will focus on Royal Rife and his Rife Machine. It is a fascinating read.* The story of Royal Raymond Rife is rife with scandal and alive with the fruit of undiluted potential and possibility. Today Rife's work is reviewed and openly discussed by doctors and researchers. This was not the case in the 1930s. Rife was ostracized by the medical community for the base suggestion that implied that he had found "the cure for all diseases". Royal Raymond Rife was born on May 16, 1888 in Elkhorn, Nebraska. In 1913, Rife received an honorary degree from the University of Heidelberg. He studied at John Hopkins University. In 1917, Rife was employed by the Zeiss Optical Company. In 1920, Rife became interested in electromagnetic field therapy. Rife began building a high-resolution microscope by using polarized light. He built a double reflecting prism into the microscope which made it possible to turn the plane of vibration to any direction which controlled the illumination of objects in the field to exact specification. In this manner, Rife discovered how to make biological samples become light activated so that the internal structure of each sample would become visible. Bacteria would appear through the use of light stain and the subsequent determination of the chemical structure of the specimen. Rife called his microscope The Universal Microscope. The Universal Microscope contained 5,682 parts. It was capable of magnification of a specimen up to 61,000 greater than that of the original specimen. The Universal Microscope was two feet in height and weighed two hundred (200) pounds. Although modern electron microscopes were more powerful than Rife's they instantly killed the viruses they were focused upon. Rife's microscope left the viruses alive so that they could be studied. The Universal Microscope made possible what previously had been impossible: the analysis of living bacteria and viruses. The microscope enabled Rife to clearly see bacteria, viruses and cells. Rife's second invention was an electromagnetic therapy device which claimed to kill specific pathogenic microorganisms at specific frequencies. Rife would apply electric and magnetic fields to the sample specimens and make them react. Rife found that he could manipulate different types of bacteria to respond to specific frequencies. The specific frequency employed for each particular bacterium would cause the destruction of the organism. Perhaps the most amazing discovery of Rife was that he was unable to cause damage to human tissue cells. It appeared that Rife had been able to destroy bacteria and pathogens without destroying healthy human tissue. Rife began cataloging the frequencies that destroyed specific pathogens. The catalogs recorded the mortal oscillatory rates of specific pathogens ("MORs") and analyzed the energetic signatures of each individual virus. Biochemical compounds oscillate at their own frequencies, the inference being that each frequency pattern is individual with its own unique energetic signature. Rife’s applied frequencies would destroy the invading disease organism whose oscillation pattern and distinct frequency corresponded to the modified pattern that he would expose the disease organisms to. If sympathetic resonance is strong enough, it can cause a receiving element to explode. Rife’s machine would send out a signal, which would cause bacteria to vibrate. By making the vibrations of the machine stronger, Rife was able to shatter the microorganisms from a distance. The most common comparison of this effect is likened to the effect of a glass shattered by application of a specific frequency. Rife soon focused his attention on cancer therapies and he concluded that cancer was caused by a virus. Since the Rife Machine could destroy virus pathogens, Rife reasoned that he could cure cancer. Rife explained that his machine did not kill tumor cells. He stated that his machine killed the virus that was infecting the tumor cells. When the virus died it would decompose into a mixture of chemicals that effectively poisoned and destroyed the host cell. Rife reasoned that infected pathogens which were destroyed released their poisons into the human body and were responsible for the weakness and illness that manifested after his subjects were exposed to his beam ray machine. He also noted that after exposure to the beam ray and the accompanying malaise, people radically improved. This reported side effect is known as the "herxheimer reaction". Rife noted the physical reactions that occurred up to 48 hours after a session. These reactions ranged from dizziness, site sensitivity, tingling, itchiness and, on rare occasions, physical pain. If a patient had an infection, bacteria would inhabit the site of infection in the surrounding area. Application of the Rife resonator caused the bacteria to rupture. The ruptured bacteria would have to leave the body and would be metabolized and excreted through the skin, bowels and urinary tract. The first reaction was always noted to be the worst. In cancer patients there was an obvious decrease in pain followed by decrease in the size of the tumor. Urine was noted to be darker in color and of a greasy consistency, as toxins left the body through the kidneys. Some patients experienced difficulty sleeping, while others experienced colds. Some patients exhibited rashes that cleared within days. However, it must be noted that Rife therapy is considered to be free of long-term side effects since healthy living tissue was left intact. Rife worked to identify two viral agents that caused carcinomas (cancers of lining and membranes) and sarcomas (cancers in bone, connective tissues and muscles). Rife isolated the cancer virus and named it cryptocides primordiales. He identified these viral agents as the BX and BY cancer virus. It is important to be reminded that Rife was the first scientist to announce that cancer was caused by a virus almost forty (40) years before this fact was confirmed by medical science. In his laboratory experiments Rife made in excess of 400 transplants of viruses from human cancers and animals and produced the typical tumors from which the virus was isolated. Laboratory rats were injected with the isolated cancer-causing virus and Rife was able to create tumors. In the second part of his experiment Rife began modifying the electronic signature of these tumors. Rife would increase the intensity of a frequency that resonated naturally with the microbes. Then Rife would increase their natural oscillations until they distorted and disintegrated from structural stresses. When the frequency was discovered that would destroy a particular microorganism, its dial position was marked. Rife began categorizing the frequencies of the MORs (mortal oscillatory rates.) Through direct application production of his radio apparatus, which produced waves at different frequencies, every tumor was completely removed. Rife declared that the BX virus of cancer was caused by..."the unbalanced chemical metabolism of the human body". By the 1930s, Royal Rife was gaining notoriety and press releases of his work were circulated throughout U.S. newspapers. On November 20, 1931, Dr. Millbank Johnson, Professor of Physiology and Clinical Medicine and Chairman of the Special Medical Research Committee at U.S.C. honored Rife at a banquet attended by 44 of the U.S.'s most prestigious medical doctors. Rife was celebrated as "the man who had found an end to all diseases". In 1934, U.S.C. began clinical trials of Rife’s beam ray device. A special committee of top U.S. doctors was formed to monitor the trials. Sixteen (16) advanced cancer patients were selected to begin treatments. Each individual participant was placed next to one of Rife's generators and was irradiated for two to three minutes per day. The time period was later reduced to three minutes every third day. After three months of clinical trials the doctors announced that fourteen (14) of the clinical trial patients were clinically cured. The remaining two patients continued trials. Four weeks after frequency adjustments were made to the machine the remaining two (2) participants were also declared cancer-free. Dr. Morris Fishbein was the Editor of the Journal of the American Medical Association and, by 1934, Fishbein had acquired the entire stock of the A.M.A. It is alleged that during this time period Dr. Fishbein approached Rife to buy exclusive rights to the beam ray device. When Rife refused, Fishbein began a campaign to discredit and destroy Rife. Rife’s name was stricken from all medical publications and journals. A.M.A. officials informed doctors using Rife’s machines to stop immediately. A.M.A. investigators confiscated Rife machines. Doctors who refused to cooperate with the A.M.A. had their machines seized and their research data confiscated. The 44 noted medical doctors who had previously celebrated Rife’s findings completely disassociated themselves from Royal Rife. In 1937, Rife established his own company, Beam Rays, Inc. Rife was determined to continue his research despite controversy and negative publicity. As an independent company, Beam Rays, Inc. manufactured fourteen (14) of Rife's frequency instruments. During this time a former employee of Rife's instituted a major lawsuit against Rife. Interestingly, the owner of a major U.S. pharmaceutical company paid the legal bills for Rife’s former employee. As his legal bills continued to mount, thefts began at Rife’s laboratory. Arsonists burned The Burnett Lab in New Jersey, Rife’s principal base of operation, to the ground. Faulty machines with inferior parts that had been shipped and received further damaged Rife’s reputation. As controversy spiraled, Dr. Arthur Kendall, once a supporter of Rife, accepted a quarter of a million dollars from an unknown benefactor to retire in Mexico. During the depression this was considered an enormous amount of money. Dr. George Dock, another of Rife's former supporters, accepted an enormous grant and received the highest honors that the A.M.A. could bestow, after distancing himself from Rife. In 1944, Dr. Millbank Johnson announced that he would convene a press conference and announce the cure for all diseases. The night before the press conference, Millbank Johnson suddenly died. His death was determined to be of natural causes; however later exhumation of his body by FBI agents determined that Dr. Johnson had been poisoned. In 1950, Rife joined in partnership with an electrical engineer named John Crane. After years of hardship adversity, Rife continued with his work. For ten (10) years Rife and Crane worked together building frequency machines and in 1960, they were closed down by the A.M.A. In 1971, Royal Rife died from an overdose of Valium and alcohol at the age of 83. His life's work was actively pursued and aggressively discredited. He died a broken man. What if there was a cure for all diseases? What if Royal Rife did discover the cure for cancer in the 1930s? Would the A.M.A. collectively seek to abolish the scourge of cancer or would this information be kept from the public? In light of the foregoing which reeks of conspiracy one can only wonder. While the A.M.A. does not endorse any of the Rife frequency instruments that are currently available today on the independent market, there is continuing interest and revival in his work. Without proper modifications the frequency generators available give only minimal and inconsistent results, although there are supporters and advocates of these newer machines. Some of the newer technologies directly apply frequencies and their harmonics to the body through the use of hand held or stick-on electrodes. Modern machines have been unable to exactly duplicate Rife’s largely because the majority of Rife’s research work was destroyed. There are advocates of these newer machines who claim that persons suffering effects of serious illness have noted improvement. Rife therapy is described as using a Rife resonator to treat infections, cancer, and neurological problems. A Rife resonator generates resonance waves that are transmitted via plasma tubes or hand-held electrodes to the body. By creating a negative polarity, the electromagnetic waves negate the reproductive ability of bacteria, viruses and parasites in the human body and destroy the pathogens completely without harming healthy cells. A Rife machine is also referred to as a frequency instrument. Rife therapy is also referred to as electron therapy. Rife machines available today vary in price from $99.00 to $6,000.00. There are approximately ten different types of recently manufactured Rife machines. These machines operate as a full-frequency instrument or as polarity machines. The Polarity machines have received attention for effectiveness in treating nerve inflammation. Frequency modalities apply frequency to problem areas with a transductant instrument. Many instruments call for application of electrode pads. If Rife's research is correct then we can infer that viruses and bacteria are the major cause of death and disease. Most viruses typically reproduce themselves by latching onto the wall of a cell and inserting their own unique genetic material into the cell. The deposited genetic material then uses the cells to make more copies of the virus. Retro viruses have a different distinction in that once they are safely deposited inside the cell's nucleus integrated into the DNA of the host cell they can take a long time to re-emerge. AIDS is caused by a retrovirus, the human immunodeficiency virus, and the time delay in emergence is the primary reason why AIDS is so difficult to treat. Most usual ways of killing viruses have no effect on retro viruses when they are latent in the DNA of the host cell. Additional studies of viruses reveal fascinating findings. The virus chlamydia pneumonae has been isolated in the inflamed joints of persons with rheumatoid arthritis. Researchers at The Royal Free Hospital in London announced that they believe that there is a direct correlation between chronic infection and the measles virus. Live virus has been found in ulcerated sections of the colon and, it has been suggested, is periodically triggered into action. Other studies and research have suggested that the chemical agents produced when the immune system attacks a virus can affect the brain. These chemicals have been implicated in various psychiatric disorders. People with glandular fever, which is linked to pathogens such as the Epstein Barr virus, have been indicated as four times more likely of developing clinical depression. Researchers in Leeds suggest that Parkinson's disease can be due to a virus that enters the central nervous system through the nose. Up to ninety percent of Parkinson's disease patients lose their sense of smell. Studies of mice show that viruses introduced through the nose spread rapidly in the brain. Premature births may be due to infection in the mother's genito urinary tract. Abnormal levels of bacteria increase production of prostaglandins, which are the trigger for labor and contractions. Supporters of new Rife Machine technology believe that persons suffering from AIDS, arthritis, herpes, hepatitis, Gulf war syndrome, stomach ulcers and any bacteria-borne virus pathogen can be cured when the virus is destroyed through electronic frequency applications. The World Wide Web has excellent sources for your personal research of Rife Machines. A simple search of Royal Rife or Rife Machines on the Google search engine can return many interesting results. One informative site is www.rifemachines.com, which offers information provided Mr. John Wright, a former pupil of John Crane and Royal Rife in the 1950s. Mr. Wright maintains a lifetime guarantee on his product and offers various models of the technology. He can be contacted by telephone at the number provided on the website for those interested in obtaining information about his machine. If Royal Rife did discover the "cure for all diseases" then it is safe to theorize that Rife’s discovery severely jeopardized the entire socio-economic structure of advanced mainstream medicine.
