Your Brain Has What Amounts to a “Spirit Eject” Button

If someone zaps a certain area in your brain, you will experience floating out of your body. A similar effect can be obtained by transferring your self awareness into another person or object by hijacking your brain’s “this is me” body cues such as visual perception, breathing and heartbeat.  Olaf Blanke, a neurosurgeon at University Hospitals of Geneva and Lausanne, wasn’t trying to set off the sensations in his patient but was using electrical stimulation to map the activity of her brain in preparation for surgical treatment. But by recording the patient’s reactions and matching them with specific electrodes, Blanke was able to pinpoint the region where out-of-body experiences seem to originate. “We wanted [and needed] to be sure that what the patient experienced and told us was related to the actual stimulation,” says Blanke. When Blanke and colleagues activated electrodes placed just above the patient’s right ear — […] Read More

1989: Quartz Crystals & Sex Magick Dream Techniques

by Bill Siebert I am a sex magician. I have been consciously working dream phantasy actualization through VIII° (masturbatory) Magick1 over the past three decades. I have found crystals to be an excellent adjunct to all forms of sex magick. If you are not already using the energy of your sexuality as a magickal tool, dream reification is a pleasant and easy way to begin. But, proceed with an understanding/acceptance that dreams invoke reality. So do phantasies. The explosiveness of orgasm thrusts phantasy into the collective unconscious to speed its reification. In this sort of working, crystals act like programmable beacons which embody the Will of the magician while s/he is busy spacing out on the ecstasy circuit. Be careful2 of the energies you invoke, for they will reify. Set aside at least 72 consecutive hours for this mini-Magickal retirement. Ideally, you should be well-rested, free from stress, and […] Read More

DREAMWORK

PREPARATION: Quartz Crystals, note pads, pens, calm music. We recommend that you begin and end each lesson with a short meditation of ten minutes duration, as your body and mind need to be calm and relaxed to achieve the best spiritual/psychic results. DREAM PROGRAMMING Everybody dreams nightly, but not everyone remembers their dreams, on awakening. Some people dream in colour, others in black and white. We are all individuals, even in our dream state. Yet this is a great resource, God – given to us, which is often under-utilized and which can be used successfully for our Higher Spiritual growth. Even so called “nightmares” can help us examine our inner fears and blocks. Master White Eagle has told us in channellings recently, that, ” The Great Spirit often tries to send information, prophecy, to you through your dreams .. and often this is sent in the way of signs and […] Read More

Wake Up from the Awake Dream

by Paul Levy When you begin to wake up in the dream you realize that the seemingly external dreamscape, be it your night dream or waking dream, is not separate from you. More than that, you realize that the seemingly external dreamscape that you find yourself in is somehow mysteriously connected to your mind. Just like the quantum physicists tell us, there is no objective universe, and the very act of observing the universe changes the universe. When you realize this, you understand that how you view this seemingly external dream has an immediate effect on how the dream appears. The two processes are simultaneous, mutually arising processes that happen in no time. Once you realize that how you view the universe immediately impacts on how it manifests, why not view it in a way that will wake you up? Why not view your life as if you are […] Read More

Are Dreams But Idle Visions?

Dreams are interludes which fancy makes,” Dryden tells us—perhaps to show that even a poet will make occasionally his muse subservient to socialistic prejudice. The instance of prevision in dream given above [in a letter addressed to The Theosophist] is one of a series of what may be regarded as exceptional cases in dream-life, the generality of dreams being, indeed, but “interludes which fancy makes.” It is the policy of materialistic, matter-of-fact science to superbly ignore such exceptions, on the ground, perchance, that the exception confirms the rule – or, we rather think, to avoid the embarrassing task of explaining such exceptions. Indeed, if one single instance stubbornly refuses classification, with “strange coincidences” – so much in favour with sceptics – then prophetic, or verified, dreams would demand an entire remodelling of physiology; as in regard to phrenology, the recognition and acceptance by science of prophetic dreams (hence the recognition of […] Read More

Dreamland And Somnambulism

[To the Editor.] (1) Are dreams always real? If so, what produces them? If not real, may they not nevertheless have in themselves some deep significance? (2) Can you tell me something about antenatal states of existence and the transmigration of the soul? (3) Can you give me anything that is worth knowing about psychology as suggested by this article?* Yours most fraternally and obediently, Jehangir Cursetji Tarachand Bombay, Nov. 10th, 1881 To put our correspondent’s request more exactly, he desires The Theosophist to cull into the limits of a column or two the facts embraced within the whole range of all the sublunar mysteries with “full explanations.” These would embrace: (1) The complete philosophy of dreams, as deduced from their physiological, biological, psychological and occult aspects. (2) The Buddhist Jâtakas (rebirths and migrations of our Lord Shâkya Muni), with a philosophical essay upon the transmigrations of the 387,000 […] Read More

Adventures in the Parallel Universe

by Misty http://www.angelfire.com/nm2/aona/mystical.html PARALLEL DREAMS 5 May 2005 : I woke up one morning and remembered my dream and as I did, some part of me snapped into one section of my brain gently. Then about ten seconds later I woke up from another dream which I also remembered and something snapped back gently into another section of the brain. I had experienced two dreams running concurrently, originating from different areas of the brain. Which makes me wonder-how do we know both sides of the brain don’t have different dreams simultaneously? I don’t know but I don’t want a simple answer I’d like the truth. One time, when I was less busy many years ago, I could remember most of the night’s dreams and had a friend who also could remember his night’s dream activities. When I mentioned I saw him in my dreams the night before, he mentioned […] Read More

Existence or Consciousness is the only reality

December 23, 2011 Happiness All beings desire happiness always, happiness without a tinge of sorrow. At the same time everybody loves himself best. The cause for this love is only happiness. So, that happiness must lie in one self. Further, that happiness is daily experienced by everyone in sleep, when there is no mind. To attain that natural happiness one must know oneself. For that, Self-Enquiry ‘Who am I?’ is the chief means. Consciousness Existence or Consciousness is the only reality. Consciousness plus waking we call waking. Consciousness plus sleep we call sleep. Consciousness plus dream, we call dream. Consciousness is the screen on which all the pictures come and go. The screen is real, the pictures are mere shadows on it. Mind Mind is a wonderful force inherent in the Self. That which arises in this body as ‘I’ is the mind. When the subtle mind emerges through […] Read More

TESTING THE LIMITS OF DREAM CONTROL: THE LIGHT AND MIRROR EXPERIMENT

[From NIGHTLIGHT 5(2), Summer 1993, Copyright, The Lucidity Institute.] TESTING THE LIMITS OF DREAM CONTROL: THE LIGHT AND MIRROR EXPERIMENT by Lynne Levitan and Stephen LaBerge Lucid dreaming offers the promise of enhanced control over dreams. Yet the question remains quite unanswered of how much dream control is possible. The ability to have lucid dreams also makes possible a way to study this issue. After having attained lucidity in a dream, dreamers can choose to carry out predetermined experiments testing their ability to achieve certain goals. In the “Free Fall” issue of NightLight (Vol. 4, No. 4) we asked lucid dreamers to attempt certain tasks in lucid dreams and to report on the outcome. An introduction to the many viewpoints on dream control will put the findings from this study in context. WAYS OF CONTROLLING The definition of “control” used here is “the ability to determine or influence the […] Read More

OTHER WORLDS: “Out of Body experiences” and Lucid Dreams

by Lynne Levitan and Stephen LaBerge, Ph.D. “Out of body” experiences (OBEs) are personal experiences during which people feel as if they are perceiving the physical world from a location outside of their physical bodies. At least 5 and perhaps as many as 35 of every 100 people have had an OBE at least once in their lives (Blackmore, 1982). OBEs are highly arousing; they can be either deeply disturbing or profoundly moving. Understanding the nature of this widespread and potent experience would no doubt help us better understand the experience of being alive and human. The simplest explanation is that OBEs are exactly what they seem: the human consciousness separating from the human body and traveling in a discorporate form in the physical world. Another idea is that they are hallucinations, but this requires an explanation of why so many people have the same delusion. Some of our […] Read More
