Oliver Stone lashes out at Pokemon Go

Director Oliver Stone used a presentation of his upcoming film about Edward Snowden as an opportunity to speak out against the augmented-reality mobile game Pokemon Go, which has been downloaded more than 30 million times in a fortnight. “It’s not really funny. What’s happening is a new level of invasion,” said the 69-year-old director at Comic Con in San Diego, referring to the app, which requires players to physically walk to different places to capture the precious Pokemon. According to Stone, while users are playing an innocent game, digital companies are collecting invaluable personal data. “The profits are enormous here for places like Google. The public was led to believe that Snowden was little more than the guy from IT that you call when the printer toner runs out, but being a sneaky little bastard, he managed to sneak in […] Read More

The Sunday Times is reporting via government sources that British spy agents have been relocated after the files were obtained and decrypted by Russian and Chinese officials. The move, which was also reported by BBC News, is being done out of an abundance of caution because agents and spies could have their cover blown based on information in the documents, according to officials sourced by the news organizations. The unnamed source quoted by the BBC said the government’s decision to move around its operatives was done out of an abundance of caution, and that there was “no evidence” any operatives had been harmed by the leak. The Times, a British newspaper whose editorial stance has been critical of the Snowden leaks since […] Read More
