2015: NFL Player Sues Police After Being Wrongfully Detained And Accused Of Public Masturbation

Fort Myers, Florida – Last month, police wrongfully detained professional football player Nate Allen and accused him of masturbating in public, an accusation which could potentially soil his reputation forever. On February 16th, Allen had the misfortune of being in the same neighborhood where a man was driving around, exposing himself and masturbating while driving a vehicle. For some reason or another, Allen was wrongfully targeted by police, detained, and formally accused of indecent exposure. The next day the news was filled with headlines that implicated Allen in humiliating acts that he did not commit. After a prolonged detainment, Allen was let go by police, but he was still a formal suspect in their case. Upon further investigation, police learned that there was no possible way that Allen was guilty. Video surveillance footage surfaced which showed the victim’s car, as well as Allen’s, and the videos indicated that it […] Read More

1927: Giant Skeletons are Uncovered in Florida.

This piece of news was published in The Woodville Republican on August 27, 1927. Tampa, Fla. – Giant Indians who roamed Florida swamps 500 years ago or more, living on shell foods which they cracked with their teeth, is a picture unfolded by archaeologists who have delved into a burial ground on a gulf island near here. The skeletons were discovered on a small section of land where a lone fisherman has lived for years. Scientists estimated the bones are at least 500 years old and are remains of a tribe known as the Caribs, natives of the West Indies. They are believed to have inhabited the state and adjacent islands before the arrival of Spaniards in Florida. The skulls, larger than those of current history, battered and crushed, indicated tribal battles. The jaw and teeth are unusually large, Likewise are the bones, indicating the Indians of past ages […] Read More

2014: The Prison State Of America

Submitted by Chris Hedges via TruthDig, Prisons employ and exploit the ideal worker. Prisoners do not receive benefits or pensions. They are not paid overtime. They are forbidden to organize and strike. They must show up on time. They are not paid for sick days or granted vacations. They cannot formally complain about working conditions or safety hazards. If they are disobedient, or attempt to protest their pitiful wages, they lose their jobs and can be sent to isolation cells. The roughly 1 million prisoners who work for corporations and government industries in the American prison system are models for what the corporate state expects us all to become. And corporations have no intention of permitting prison reforms that would reduce the size of their bonded workforce. In fact, they are seeking to replicate these conditions throughout the society. States, in the name of austerity, have stopped providing prisoners […] Read More

2014: Satanic Displays Going Up in Michigan and Florida to Counter Nativity Scenes

Satanic displays will be going up at Statehouses in Michigan and Florida this Christmas season.  The Florida Department of Management Services approved the display in Tallahassee from the Satanic Temple after rejecting it last year as “grossly offensive.” The satanic display will be put up in the first-floor rotunda of the Capitol for the holiday period beginning on December 22. In Michigan, the Detroit chapter of the same satanic group sought and won approval to put up its exhibit as a counter to the Christian Nativity. Officials approved the display after the Capitol staff consulted the state attorney general’s office. It’s a First Amendment right,” said Michigan Capitol Facility Director Dan Brocklehurst. A Christian Nativity will be erected on the Capitol grounds beginning on Friday morning and the Satanic Temple’s display will go up on Sunday. Back in Florida, Festivus, a non-commercial festival “for the rest of us,” will […] Read More

2014: Florida Cop Literally Just Shot Unarmed African American With His Hands Up, Begging Not To Be Shot

Another Florida police officer has shot an unarmed African American. This time, the Florida officer shot and critically wounded a 28-year-old man early Monday during an investigation into a stolen car in Orlando. Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings had little to say about the case besides this, but witnesses claim that the victim, Cedric Bartee, literally had his hands up, begging Sergeant Robert McCarthy not to shoot. Bartee had his hands in the air, but in spite of this damning detail, during a press conference Monday, Demings said, “I ask everyone to not rush to judgment and allow the investigation to be completed.” Demings said that “because of the backdrop of everything happening in the country at this time… It’s concerning to me” how people might react to this shooting of an unarmed African American with his hands literally up in the air when he was shot. Demings came to the defense of Sergeant […] Read More

2014: Florida Cop Breaks 14-Year-Old Girl’s Arm During Warrantless Cell Phone Search

The Supreme Court ruled earlier this year that police must have a warrant to search cell phones and other personal electronic devices. Florida parents are calling for a Greenacres Police Department officer to be fired after he reportedly broke their 14-year-old daughter’s arm while attempting a warrantless search of her cell phone. According to an arrest report published by the Broward-Palm Beach New Times this week, Officer Jared Nash explained that he approached the 14-year-old girl at John I. Leonard High School on Oct. 21 because he believed that she had video of a fight on her cell phone. Nash described the girl, who was talking on the cell phone, as “uncooperative.” He said that she pushed him back as she tried to get past him to walk away. “When she did this I took a hold of her left arm,” he wrote, adding that he gave her a […] Read More

2014: South Atlantic Anomaly: The Bermuda Triangle Of Space

The fabled Bermuda Triangle. A strange triangulation between Florida, Bermuda, and Puerto Rico in which people have reported anomalous phenomena for centuries. Airplanes and ships have vanished while traversing the so-called Devil’s triangle and have never been found. Well, at least not most of them. There have been reports of strange lights and bizarre effects on navigational equipment when crafts enter the strange vortex on Earth. However, that isn’t the only anomalous region that we’ve found. Miles high above the Earth, another strange triangulation exists. Known as the South Atlantic Anomaly (SAA), scientists and engineers have been fully aware of its effects on space travel. The SAA resides a few miles above the coast of Brazil and it is made up of some of the strongest solar radiation that is close to our planet. The radiation belt has been known to us since the early 1950s, but it isn’t […] Read More

2014: “Feeding The Homeless” Is A Crime In Increasingly More US Cities

Submitted by Michael Snyder of The Economic Collapse blog, Have you ever given food to a homeless person?  Well, if you do it again in the future it might be a criminal act depending on where you live.  Right now, there are dozens of major U.S. cities that have already passed laws against feeding the homeless.  As you will read about below, in some areas of the country you can actually be fined hundreds of dollars for just trying to give food to a hungry person.  I know that sounds absolutely insane, but this is what America is turning into.  Communities all over the country are attempting to “clean up the streets” by making it virtually illegal to either be homeless or to help those that are homeless.  Instead of spending more money on programs to assist the homeless, local governments are bulldozing tent cities and giving homeless people […] Read More

Wanna Be A Great Trader? Size Matters… Finger Size

Take a moment and look at your hands. Specifically, compare the length of your ring finger to the one you use to point.  Is the ring finger longer or shorter than your pointer, and by how much?  It turns out that the answer to that question can tell a lot about your mental abilities and appetite for risk. As ConvergEx’s Nick Colas details, a 2009 study of mostly male traders working in London found that the ones with longer ring fingers were generally more profitable than those with shorter ones. Traders with the largest fourth finger/second (pointer) finger ratios actually made 11 times more than those with the smallest.  Via ConvergEx’s Nick Colas, A 2012 study of entrepreneurs in Italy showed that highly successful female entrepreneurs tended to have longer ring fingers as well.  Researchers believe that the causal link between digits on your hand and in your bank […] Read More
