  While many Americans believe that the war in Afghanistan is winding down, peace activists and medical aid workers tell a different story. “It really shows how mainstream media has failed to tell the truth to the world,” says Dr. Hakim, a medical doctor who has provided humanitarian relief in Afghanistan for the last decade. “The war is going on. It is accelerating. Both the Red Cross and the United Nations has reported an increased civilian deaths in the past few years. It is getting worse. It is definitely not scaling down.
