You would be forgiven for thinking that the catholic church is declining in the modern world, but it is in fact thriving.
They have used manipulative tools since their creation to snare people into believing what they want them to believe.
Religion used to be a comfort blanket for humans in times when we understood little about the world. Thankfully now we have science to bridge the gap, but some people still cling on to the solace of religion.
The catholic church have had to adapt to a changing civilization, and it has done this pretty successfully, all with the help of a little ‘fact altering’.
They present the bible to their followers as a historical document, and many people believe this to be true. They actually believe that the stories in the bible happened from the 7 day creation to the crucifixion.
But there is real proof that the church has been cherry picking which stories it wants its followers to believe as ‘fact’ for hundreds of years.
The Bible as we know it is not a historical document, but instead an amalgamation of different texts written by different people over a huge time scale. And it has been edited.
The holy book was first translated from Latin to English in 1611, before this if you didn’t read Latin you had no real way of knowing what was actually written in there.
But as it was translated, the scribes decided to do a little omitting of certain books. Perhaps they decided to leave out books which had not aged well over time, books which sent out the wrong message for the church at that time. We will never know why these books were left out, but we do know that this decision changed the entire history of the catholic church.
The books were left out of the end of the Old Testament, and they were called-
- 1 Esdras
- 2 Esdras
- The rest of Esther
- The Wisdom of Solomon
- Baruch with the epistle Jeremiah
- The Songs of the 3 Holy children
- The history of Susana
- bel and the dragon
- The prayer for Manasses
- 1 Maccabees
- 2 Maccabees
It seems likely that these books were left out as some of them included some pretty fantastic excerpts.
For example the Wisdom of Solomon 2:1-24 states:
6 Come on there for let us enjoy the good things that are present: and let us speedily use the creatures like as in youth.
7 Let us fill ourselves with costly wine and ointments: and let no flower of the Spring pass by us.
8 Let us crown ourselves with rosebuds, before they be withered:
This is a very different type of message that the Bible normally spouts, it is actually telling us to enjoy ourselves. It seems like the editors decide to whittle down all the best bits of the Bible and leave only the parts which tell us to comply, or burn in hell.
